Corvetto Metro station
by 3TI Progetti
The Corvetto Metro Station, nestled in the historical city center of Genoa beneath the picturesque Acquasola Park (established in 1825), is on the path to completion. Despite being left unfinished by the municipal administration for years, a significant effort has been made since 2011 to revive and finalize this crucial transit hub.
Project Highlights:
1. Underground Works:
- Transversal Bypass Tunnel Extension: Enhancing connectivity and improving the overall flow within the station.
- Construction of Escalators and Staircases: Installation of 4 escalators along with both sliding and fixed staircases to facilitate smooth movement for passengers.
- Deep Shafts Construction: Development of 3 deep shafts (each 28 meters deep) using concrete diaphragm walls, linked to the existing shaft, to complete the station’s distribution and emergency exits.
2. Acquasola Park Redevelopment:
- Revitalizing one of Genoa’s historic green areas to complement the new infrastructure, ensuring a harmonious blend of nature and modernity.
3. Restoration of Albini Palace:
- The Albini Palace, a monumental structure dating back to 1950, will serve as the grand entrance to the station, merging historical elegance with contemporary functionality.
This ambitious project not only aims to complete the Corvetto Metro Station but also promises to enhance the urban landscape, providing a seamless transit solution while preserving and rejuvenating Genoa's rich historical and cultural heritage.
